Today we drove to a strange landscape called Fantasy Canyon on a twisty road and then a long rutted dirt road but it was worth the drive. Strange shapes appear in the rocks as you walk around the canyon. This top rock looks like a howling coyote.
The canyon appears out of nowhere on the landscape.
This is the famous octagonal bench that's been here for many years.
Randi climbs up to her rock throne to wave at her royal subjects.
This rock looks like a goblin head.
The bathroom was one remote building with a composting toilet and this sign. Was it worth the risk?
In the afternoon we visited the Dinosaur Natural History Museum. It was a bargain for the senior price of $4.00 admission. We saw dinosaur bones, petroglyphs, a wall of plant fossils and so much more!
Next we visited the free Heritage Museum to learn about local lore like the two blind brothers who made saddles and this collection of handmade dolls. Until she died, a local woman carved each first lady into a porcelain doll and made the clothes for each one too.
